At Optika Rodenstock, our optician and optometrist can help you understand the available contact lenses and your options. Selection requires an appropriate assessment and precise parameters, not just the prescription from your glasses.
Contact lens materials and designs
Soft hydrogel and silicone hydrogel lenses
Soft contact lenses use flexible materials. Silicone hydrogels allow more oxygen to pass through than traditional hydrogels. The material alone, however, does not determine whether a lens will suit you.
Spherical, toric and multifocal designs
Spherical lenses are used for short- or long-sightedness; toric designs include astigmatism correction. Multifocal lenses are designed for different viewing distances. Selection and fitting need an individual assessment. Source: FDA
These are general categories, not a stock list. We confirm the exact brand, material, parameters and availability before an order.
What do the numbers on the box mean?
- PWR / SPH
- Optical power, measured in dioptres.
- BC — base curve
- A curvature parameter relevant to fit.
- DIA — diameter
- The size of the lens in millimetres.
- CYL / AXIS and ADD
- Additional parameters for toric or multifocal lenses.
Do not choose a replacement just because its power matches. Brand, design and fit matter too. Bring your packaging and current parameters when asking about availability. Source: FDA
Daily disposable or reusable lenses?
Daily disposable lenses
Use a fresh pair as directed and discard them after use. They are not cleaned for another wear.
Planned-replacement lenses
Some lenses are replaced fortnightly or monthly, depending on the product. Between wears, they need cleaning and disinfection with the appropriate system. A replacement schedule is not permission to sleep in lenses.
Follow the prescribed wearing and replacement schedule. “Monthly” does not mean 30 separate wears or continuous wear for a whole month.
The basics of contact lens care
- Wash and thoroughly dry your hands before handling lenses.
- Remove them before showering or swimming; do not clean them with water or saliva.
- Do not sleep in lenses unless your eye care professional specifically directs you to do so for that type.
- Use the recommended care system and fresh solution for reusable lenses, without topping up old solution.
- Care for the case as instructed and carry spare glasses.
If you have pain, redness or blurred vision, remove the lenses and contact an eye care professional. Do not keep wearing them to “get used to them”. Source: CDC

Contact lenses: your questions
Can I order contact lenses using my glasses prescription?
Do not assume the same prescription is sufficient. Contact lenses need additional parameters and a fitting assessment. Bring your current contact lens details or arrange a consultation.
Do you have a particular brand or power in stock?
Call +389 76 406 506 with the exact brand and parameters for both eyes. We will confirm availability, pack size, price and possible order time.
Can daily disposable lenses be reused?
No. Daily disposable lenses are single-use and are discarded after wear. Cleaning does not make them reusable.
Can I rinse contact lenses with water?
No. Keep contact lenses away from water. For reusable lenses, use only the recommended cleaning and disinfection system.
Can monthly contact lenses be worn while sleeping?
A monthly replacement schedule does not permit sleeping in lenses. Follow your eye care professional’s individual instructions and the specification for the exact lens.
What if my eye becomes red or painful?
Remove your lenses and seek advice from an eye care professional, particularly if you have pain or a change in vision. Do not put them back in until you have appropriate guidance.
