Book computerised vision measurement with Meri, our qualified optician and optometrist, at Vero in Nova Bitola. Tell us how you use your glasses and where you notice difficulty, so we can focus the conversation on your needs.
What does vision measurement tell you?
Refraction helps determine the optical correction needed for clearer vision. Lens power is measured in dioptres, written as D. A computerised result is interpreted in the context of your vision; it is not a complete assessment of eye health.
Common prescription terms
- SPH — sphere
- The basic optical power of the lens, in dioptres.
- CYL and AXIS — cylinder and axis
- The strength and direction of correction for astigmatism, where needed.
- ADD — near addition
- Extra power for close work, when included in the prescription.
The values for the right and left eye may differ. Do not change a prescription simply by comparing the numbers with your old glasses. Source: Optometrists.org

From measurement to frames and lenses
Your prescription is one part of the choice
Frame position, lens centration and the distance between your pupils also matter for finished glasses. Ask the optician how these measurements are considered for your order.
Materials and everyday habits
We offer mineral glass and plastic lenses, frames from different brands and options for the sun. We consider material, weight and style alongside your needs.
For some orders, glasses can be ready in one hour, from measurement to lens cutting and mounting. Availability for your prescription and lenses must be confirmed first.
When do you need a medical eye examination?
Vision measurement at an optician does not replace a medical eye examination. Clear vision with glasses does not, by itself, rule out eye disease. Discuss eye health and the timing of medical checks with an ophthalmologist.
Sudden loss or marked deterioration of vision, severe pain, new flashes or a curtain-like shadow need urgent medical assessment. Do not wait for a routine glasses appointment. Source: NEI
